A CHRISTMAS CAROL OPENS DECEMBER 3RD AT SAN DIEGO REP

San Diego REP continues their 30th Anniversary Season with the REP's All-American version of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, adapted by D.W. Jacobs. Kirsten Brandt directs, with production concept and lighting, scenic and projection design by David Lee Cuthbert; choreography by Jean Isaacs; arrangements and original music by Steve Gunderson; costume design by Mary Larson and sound design by M. Jeff Mockus. Performances begin Saturday, December 3; opening December 9; playing through December 24 on the Lyceum Stage in Horton Plaza.

This all-new “American Carol,” set in our country in the first half of the twentieth century, explodes with live jazz music from ragtime to swing to be-bop. The American rhythms lead us through a world filled with speakeasies, fat cats, dance hall girls and a Scrooge who’s raking in the dough.

The cast features Greg Mullavey as Scrooge (Tom Hartman on “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman,” Broadway) and Rebecca Lauren Myers as Tiny Tim; Victor Morris as Narrator (and amazing jazz trumpeter); Jenn Grinels, Jason Heil, Phil Johnson, Zev Lerner, Jeremiah Lorenz, Jeannine Marquie, Lisa H. Payton, Seema Sueko, Ruff Yeager; ensemble: Sonya Bender, Ka’imi Kuoha, Markuz Rodriguez; Don LeMaster (Musical Director, keyboard), Rik Ogden (woodwinds, guitar, banjo), David Rumley (percussionist), Oliver Shirley (bass).
