Hunter Richards’ astonishing directorial debut, LONDON opens Feburary 10th
When Syd (Chris Evans) learns that his ex-girlfriend London (Jessica Biel) is leaving New York without telling him, he responds by impulsively crashing her going away party. Once there, rather than confront her, he holes up in the bathroom with a pile of cocaine and Bateman (Jason Statham), an enigmatic Englishman he barely knows. As the two engage in a drug-fueled conversation that runs the gamut from entropy to S&M to the meaning of life, Syd struggles to work up the nerve to talk to London before it’s too late.
Writer-director Hunter Richards’ astonishing directorial debut, LONDON is an alternately hilarious and harrowing meditation on life, religion, sex and love, told from the perspective of a young man cast adrift after losing the one thing he cares about. The finely rendered characters and pitch-perfect dialogue are brought to life by a stunning and talented young cast including Chris Evans (Fantastic Four, Cellular), Jason Statham (The Transporter 1 & 2, The Italian Job), Jessica Biel (Stealth, Rules of Attraction), Joy Bryant (Antwone Fisher, The Skeleton Key), Kelli Garner (The Aviator, Man of the House) and comedian Dane Cook, LONDON challenges us to reexamine our most deeply held beliefs. It also offers a window into a generation of affluent young adults born to the excesses of the 1980s and now searching for meaning in their materially full but spiritually bereft lifestyles.
The film screened in September, 2005 at Montreal’s World Film Festival where it was awarded the Bronze Zenith for First Fiction Feature Film.
A Destination Films production LONDON the film also stars Kelli Garner, Joy Bryant, Isla Fisher and Dane Cook. The film was written and directed by Hunter Richards. The producers are Bonnie Timmerman, Ash Shah and Paul Davis Miller, David Hillary. Executive producers are Benedict Carver, Timothy Wayne Peternel. The director of photography is Jo Willems. The production designer is Erin Smith. The film is edited by Tracey Wadmore-Smith.
