A story of a woman who discovers wisdom, community, civic pride and finally enduring love from her neighbors, past and present, in the city she calls home. In the last two years Allan Havis has been inspired by interviews with 200 diverse residents of San Diego; crafting a rapturous love story ringing with music from around the world about a woman who discovers she is part of a vibrant and ever-evolving family that crosses boundaries of time, culture and ethnicity.
Jessie Gordon, a passionate African American scholar and superstar in the study of ghosts and spirits, finds through her encounters with them that she is part of a vibrant and evolving "family" that transcends boundaries of time, corporeality, ethnicity, and cultural tradition.
